The main purpose of this article is to systematize and comment on bibliographic references regarding the digital transformation of the education sector in Latin America since the COVID-19 pandemic. This topic was addressed based on a commentary analysis of a document published by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in February 2022. The adequacy of education in Latin America in the context of the pandemic experience is discussed, and the possibilities offered by new technologies in the future are explored. The most important findings are: (1) There is clear evidence of an initial appropriation of learning and new teaching skills that will be useful for the future, orderly integration of technologies, as well as digital resources that will remain available after the pandemic. (2) Contemporary educational discourse emphasizes students’ increasing autonomy, the renewed focus on formative assessment methods, learning-oriented methodologies suited to current demands, the concern for educational quality, and the recognition of differentiated learning trajectories
