School environmental projects: an alternative for participatory research at the Patio Bonito Educational Institution (Marquetalia, Caldas-Colombia)
The purpose of this article is to restructure the School Environmental Project of the Patio Bonito Educational Institution in Marquetalia Caldas, bearing in mind the fulfillment of the six axes proposed by the National Environmental Education Plan, and some objectives of sustainable development. For this purpose, a qualitative research was carried out, based on the principles of participatory action research and included documentary review, semi-structured surveys and pedagogical practices. In accordance with the above, a PRAE was developed from a holistic, systemic and interdisciplinary approach; three research groups were formed and a subproject was executed in coordination with SENA, allowing the graduation of students of the natural resource management technician. This experience demonstrated the importance of participatory research as a tool for reflection and permanent dialogue between the school and the community for meaningful learning.
