Vocational Guidance, a Need in the Population Deprived of Liberty Linked to the Adolescent Criminal Responsibility System (SRPA)
The purpose of this article is to describe the most representative characteristics that influence the vocational guidance of the participants linked to the adolescent criminal responsibility system (SRPA, for its initials in Spanish). Using a descriptive qualitative approach, surveys and interviews, ad hoc instruments were applied to a sample of nine adolescent graduates and 10 professionals, respectively, assigned to the measure called Specialized Attention Center (CAE). The results show the identification of causes and consequences of criminal behavior, risk and protection factors, as well as care strategies, the fundamental role of the family in the processes and the approach on rights, which promote, condition and demand vocational guidance in the context. Vocational guidance is based on a comprehensive approach to the reality of each adolescent, the reduction of risk factors, the articulated and timely professional support, to the adolescent and the family; furthermore, it is consolidated by co-responsibly assisting in the construction of viable life projects and ends with dignifying the human being and the reduction of delinquency.
