Introduction: This article examines the historical trajectory of women’s participation in the Colombian publishing industry, highlighting their sustained but often underrecognized presence. It shows that, despite their long-standing contributions to cultural production since the nineteenth century, women have faced structural barriers, stereotypes, and limited recognition within a male-dominated editorial environment. Methodology: The analysis follows a historical-critical approach that traces key figures, contexts, and cultural processes shaping women’s roles in publishing. Results: The study identifies foundational contributions by early authors such as Soledad Acosta de Samper, as well as by major twentieth-century writers, whose work helped expand women’s presence in the field. Persistent gaps remain in leadership, visibility, and symbolic legitimacy, even as feminist movements and cultural initiatives have broadened opportunities. Conclusions: The findings demonstrate that female voices have been central to the evolution of Colombian publishing and that their full recognition requires sustained efforts toward equity and cultural inclusion.
