Editorial Management and Scientific Standardization: Longitudinal Metric Study of the Journal Cooperativismo & Desarrollo (1975–2022)
Introduction: This study examines the scientific and editorial trajectory of the journal Cooperativismo & Desarrollo from 1975 to 2022, aiming to understand how editorial management, process formalization, and scientific standardization have contributed to its consolidation as a specialized academic publication. It argues that the progressive adoption of international standards transforms the performance and positioning of a journal, particularly in emerging fields such as cooperativism and the solidarity economy. Methodology: A quantitative-descriptive approach was applied using metric techniques to evaluate scientific output, including indicators of productivity, citation patterns, collaboration, thematic structure, and editorial behavior. The analysis was structured into two historical stages that illustrate changes in scientific maturity, management processes, and transitions toward professionalized editorial models. Results: Findings indicate sustained yet heterogeneous growth, with early fluctuations typical of developing journals and marked improvements in editorial regularity in recent decades. Increased author diversity, greater process standardization, and enhanced scientific visibility reflected in citation patterns were observed. Conclusions: The journal demonstrates improving performance in management, scientific normalization, and academic visibility, supported by indicators that consolidate its role as a specialized publication. Opportunities emerge to strengthen editorial strategy through internationalization, interoperability, open science practices, and enhanced information management.
