Relationship between strategic status of human resource management and entrepreneurial performance
Human resource management (HRM) is a highly relevant function for the company’s successful, since people are a valuable source for creating value, to innovate and achieve sustainable competitive advantages. From a recent perspective, HRM must be conceived as a strategic partner with a binding role in high-level decision-making in the different subsystems, to impact organizational performance from the proper management of people. However, the state of the art revealed that there is not enough scientific evidence to corroborate the premises outlined, particularly in developing countries such as Colombia. In this sense, the purpose of this work was to provide an informed answer to the following research question: How much relationship exists between the performance and HRM seen as a partner with strategic status? For this purpose, data was collected from 204 companies located in 24 regions of Colombia, measuring variables such as the strategic status of HRM, its level of positioning as a strategic partner, some intermediate results expected from HRM (satisfaction, motivation, skills, performance, and commitment of employees), and the overall performance of companies. Statistically significant relationships were found between the variables and the novelty of this study was verified, whose value also lies in obtaining valuable elements to enrich the country's business public policy.
