Sustainable Use Of Vegetable Species For Fitorremediation Of Spills In Porcicultural Production Of Sena Clem Tuluá.
The purpose of this research is to identify the plant species that allow greater decontamination of the discharges generated by the SENA-CLEM Tuluá pig farm, Valle del Cauca, becoming a pilot model that can be implemented by pig producers in Colombia, reducing the negative impacts on the environment generated by this type of livestock operations through sustainable technologies. In the research, the pollutant removal capacity of five plant species was analyzed and quantified: Lemongrass (Cymbogogon citratus), basil (Ocimum basilicum), heliconia (Heliconia rostrata), sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum) and coquito (Cyperus rotundus) , which were subjected to growth in the swine discharge treatment wetlands for 13 months; The economic benefits to producers that these plants can provide in these biosystems were also valued. To evaluate the phytoremediation action, samples of the discharges were taken at the beginning and at the end of the experiment, these were analyzed by the laboratoryWater Technology Engineeringlocated in the city of Cali-Valle del Cauca.
When performing the analysis, it was evidenced that the plants that most withstood the stress conditions were Heliconia (H.rostrata) and Sugarcane (S. officinarum) and presented removal of pollutants from chemical oxygen demand, biological demand oxygen, total suspended solids, sedimentary solids, fats and oils.
