This article offers a theoretical reflection on how the use of the tool known as Thick Description is crucial in the development of ethnographic research to analyze how practices carried out in a social field, in this case an educational institution, reproduce social inequalities. This is manifested through symbolic violence and in everyday institutional practices. Using this tool allows for a more in-depth analysis in a more specific manner. Similarly, it contrasts with the theoretical construct of reproduction and symbolic violence used to analyze these types of practices taking place in a secondary school in the Bajío region of Mexico, located in the municipality of Uriangato, in the state of Guanajuato.
