Family, culture and society
To understand human development it is necessary to
examine those inherited characteristics that give each
person a particular point of departure in life. It is also
necessary to consider the various environmental or
experience-driven factors that influence development.
Such particularly relevant contexts include family, neighborhood, socioeconomic status, race or ethnicity,
and culture. The aim of this article is to reflect on how
family, society and culture could be significant factors
in a healthy human development. By way of a qualitative study and analytical research, it was possible to understand the phenomenon in a specific way in order to comprehend historical concepts and events such as family, social and cultural factors that lead human beings to have a healthy development. Research was carried on with the aid of bibliographic databases such as Scopus and Psychology and Behavioral Science
Collection (EBSCO) using predetermined search criteria.
Research results published until December 2019
were considered and, after being evaluated, 25 articles
were included in the reflection. It is concluded that
influences on development come from heredity and
environment. Many characteristic childhood changes
are related to maturation, and individual differences
increase with age based on experiences shared with
representative childhood figures.
