Influence of the addictive behavior of the parental subsystem upon the children's behavior.
The family is the greatest forming force of the human being, since in its bosom are carried out the processes of socialization that transform the individual into a person. The family thought of as a unit, it can be considered a system in dynamic equilibrium. It is a recognized fact that the people around the addict person are affected and adapt to the addiction cycle, forming part of the "sick behavior", even involuntarily. Most of the research conducted to know the effect in children of the behavior of their addicted parents either to licit or illicit substances, is predominantly focused on the children of alcoholic parents, directing the research attention to manifest behavior problems, so it is important to emphasize that they are also individuals affected by alcoholism and that this impact will be reflected in some stages of children's development, in which they will show a serious emotional and psychological deficit.
Among the complications and consequences of the consumption of psychoactive substances are the disintegration of the family system, the negative effect on children's school performance, as well as their entire socialization process and the formation of their character structure, insecurity and low self-esteem. Many difficulties and problems are the product of a long series of errors, lack of knowledge, deficiencies and insecurities that start in a very early period. That is to say, the consumption of psychoactive substances, domestic violence, physical abuse, discrimination, and prostitution among others are problems that arise in addition to the consumption of psychoactive substances and that sometimes emerge at some point during adolescence or adulthood. They are the combination and sum of multiple factors, of different intensity, which facilitate the individual to decide to use drugs to manage many of their difficulties at a personal level. Childhood is the most important stage for the physical, emotional, ethical and intellectual of the individual development. It is necessary to focus all the efforts and care to achieve that the child becomes a healthy being physically, emotionally and socially, that he or she grow into an individual capable of understanding and transforming his or her reality, as well as handling difficulties and solve conflicts, in order to be a person prepared to live together in a constructive and supportive way.
