Quality assurance as a generator of institutional changes in private universities in Colombia
The system for quality assurance of education in colombia has been subject to several revisions and proposals regarding the accreditation of higher education institutions and the undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. These processes have been at the center of the discussion due to their impact on different areas of university institutions, such as academic dynamics, educational practices, organizational structures, government and university management, among others. In this context, this article presents preliminary results of a research that aims to analyze the incidence of institutional accreditation in private universities of Bogotá and Medellín (during the period 2015-2018), based on the methodological strategy of the case studies. The bibliographic review and the interviews carried out allow us to identify processes and mechanisms related to quality that have been institutionalized, leading to internal changes, and that permeate different levels and actors within the institutions, while generating non-homogeneous effects and different answers according to the nature and identity of the institutions that implement them.
