Objective: To analyze thematic, theoretical, and methodological trends in English Language Teaching (ELT) within Colombian higher education.
Method: A documentary research approach was conducted under the PRISMA 2020 framework, selecting a corpus of 30 national academic articles. Results: Two main perspectives were identified: one that views English as essential for competitiveness and academic mobility, strengthening Colombia’s global position; and another, critical stance that reflects on how ELT policies are designed and implemented within the Colombian educational context. Conclusion: ELT in Colombian higher education emerges as a synthesis of concrete pedagogical actions, theoretical reflections, and critical approaches framed within a Decolonial Perspective.
