Contextualized education, a tool to develop skills in Civil Engineering students at UMNG
The objective is to describe aspects of the recent curricular reform of the Civil Engineering program of the Nueva Granada Military University (UMNG), aimed at the development of nationally recognized (CAN) and internationally recognized competencies (ABET). In the context of the curricular reform proposed since 2020 in the Faculty of Engineering program structures its curricular reform, through a curricular design that guarantees the contextualized learning of students and responds to the CAN guidelines and from ABET. In addition to pedagogical strategies aimed at developing technical and soft skills (fiels trips, laboratory practices, case studies, among others), new ones were identified, such as the semester of training practice, interdisciplinary electives and projects integrators, which will project the training given to civil engineers grom New Granada. The curricular reform will enhance contextualized education and develop technical and soft skills in Civil Engineering students grom New Granada.
