Artificial Intelligence and Personalized Learning in the 21st Century
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has profoundly transformed traditional pedagogical approaches, enabling personalized learning systems that cater to individual student needs. This article examines how AI—through adaptive algorithms, recommendation systems, and educational chatbots—is reshaping learning experiences. The methodology employed is qualitative and exploratory, based on a literature review of recent scientific research. Twenty studies were analyzed that focus on the design, implementation, impacts, and ethical challenges of algorithmic personalization in educational environments. Key findings suggest that AI-based systems enhance academic performance, increase motivation, and promote learner autonomy. However, concerns remain about algorithmic opacity, data privacy, and biases in recommendation models. The conclusions emphasize the need for educational policies that promote ethical and transparent AI usage in learning contexts. The article advocates for a student-centered approach that balances technological efficiency with pedagogical principles and democratic values.
