This article presents the results of a research process aiming to show, from a contextual reference, the meaning and scope of civic education for the exercise of democracy and social responsibility, based on university students’ understanding on the practice of democracy, social responsibility and human rights, considered as categories of analysis, and what the individual formation for civic practice by exercising political, critical and participatory.
