This paper presents the results of a project on the current situation of the formative investigation and the competitions of investigation realized by an interdisciplinary equipment of the National Open and Distance University (UNAD).

The problem of investigation was the ignorance of last tendencies of research formation; another problem was the problems of teacher to teach in this field. The methodology was recollection of the articles in specialized bases, make of analytic abstracts of the articles to see the concepts, information consolidation and the classification of the competences.

We found that the tendency is to define the research competence from three points. From knowledge, know do, (abilities) and know be (attitudes). We observed another classification, like basic competence, personal competences and professional competences. Also we found that the research formation happens with a kind of the pedagogic strategies but to research learning doing research has more positive effects in the students ‘process.
