This document is the result of a study carried out in two universities in Cartagena - Colombia. The objective of this research has been to make an approximation of the profile of the university teacher, in order to analyze the interrelation between future teachers and the convictions they hold about practical teaching at the university in order to design strategies that contribute to a greater articulation of these with their pedagogical practice. To carry out this project, descriptive research was used using a sample selected in a probabilistic manner of 60 students, 20 teachers, 10 directors and 15 graduates, using the methods of survey and detailed interview; it was possible to obtain an exhaustive understanding of the level of knowledge on the subject in question. From the statistical analysis carried out on the data collected, the corresponding results were obtained, it can be seen that there are professional profiles. Among the findings found, the variable Almost nothing in 1.7%, assures that it is evident the need to value the pedagogical competence of educators, such as scientific competence, the teacher uses case studies to put into practice the knowledge acquired by students, reflected in Nothing and Almost nothing in 1.7%. In addition, from the variable Nothing in 3.3%, it can be inferred that strategies must be implemented to improve the central axes of the teaching and learning process. It is concluded that the competencies demand a revaluation of the pedagogical function of the university professor that stimulates his motivation and recognizes the attempts focused on improving the quality and educational innovation in the university.
