The study of trends in innovation research contributes to generally identify the main areas of interest around the dynamics in this matter, and to pinpoint knowledge gaps that may give rise to new lines of research. In the field of innovation there are multiple constructs or areas of study; This work proposes an analysis of the results from the contrast of searches in the Sciencedirect and Scopus databases, incorporating factors such as the classification in the Journal Citation Report and the H Index.

This research analyzes the trends in the publication of scientific documents related to the classification of innovation proposed by the Oslo Manual: product, process, marketing and organization; incorporating an additional typology of great relevance in recent decades: social innovation.

From the results achieved, it can be seen that there is a greater number of publications in this field of research in the ScienceDirect database, however, relevant coincidences are identified in the areas of study and the percentage participation of the different types of innovation.
