Introduction. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that affects people worldwide, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or living conditions. It poses significant challenges for public health systems, particularly regarding treatment adherence among the most vulnerable groups, who present the highest rates of infection and mortality. Objective. To determine the relationship between sociodemographic conditions and treatment adherence in patients with tuberculosis in Montería, Córdoba, Colombia, to inform public policy decisions. Materials and Methods. A quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted in Montería,Córdoba, Colombia, during the first half of 2024. The instruments used were the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Results. Educational level, ownership of household appliances (e.g., refrigerator), access to public services, and the distance between the healthcare facility and the patient’s home were found to be sig-
nificantly associated with treatment adherence. Conclusions. Adherence to tuberculosis treatment remains one of the main challenges for health programs. It is essential to explore all related factors, particularly the sociodemographic conditions of affected individuals, to improve health outcomes and guide effective interventions.
