Otto de Greiff, at the service of training and musical appreciation in Colombia
Otto de Greiff (1903-1995) occupies an outstanding position in the Colombian musical panorama of the twentieth century. In a country where the musical education was practically non-existent and the music was perceived as a second-rate art, Otto de Greiff chose to change this perception among Colombians. Via the study of his Newspaper Columns, his writings and conferences about musical subjects and his courses in the radio, this article analyzes this dimension of his intellectual production and its contribution to the Colombian musical education.
