Rural women in boyacá: a tissue of ancestral knowledge

Despite the great limitations that rural women have in terms of access to education, health, land ownership, public services, Rural Women in Boyacá are possessors of very sophisticated knowledge inherited from oral tradition and which is reflected in the form of build their productive life systems through symbols, values, beliefs, concepts, methods. The contribution that peasant women make from this ancestral knowledge to agriculture, to the care of their family members, animals, plants, to the elaboration of handicrafts, to the way of preparing food and their relationship with the Land constitutes a significant contribution to cultural diversity, to the solidarity economy and to the vindication of peasant rights. The purpose of the research is to investigate within a universe of rural women in the department of Boyacá, the different traditional knowledge that rural women contribute to peasant culture.
