This research has been focused on the development of English skills in Indigenous Arhuacos, students and graduates of the National Open and Distance University UNAD - Valledupar, through cultural content of the Ethnicity, as a way to contribute not only to learning of a foreign language - English, but to the strengthening of the cultural and distinctive part of the Arhuaca ethnic group; taking into account that the first language for these indigenous people is Iku, the second is Spanish and the third is English. This is done taking into account articles 14 and 16 of National Law 23.302 on indigenous affairs and the Pei Arhuaco Ethnicity, as well as what is based in Colombia with the National Plan for Bilingualism.
The research contains an ethnographic research design, with application of semi-structured interviews, with a snowball effect; and whose results achieve acceptance of the English language.
