Objective. To analyze the procrastination behavior of university faculty and its causes. Method. A qualitative descriptive phenomenological study was conducted with 114 public university professors. Results. Professors delay tasks mainly due to problems with organization and time management. They indicate that workload overload and distractions contribute to procrastination in their work. This behavior sometimes affects teaching quality and leads to increased stress and feelings of guilt. Conclusion. Procrastination among university professors is linked to organizational and contextual factors that negatively impact their performance and emotional well-being.
