Challenges in ethnopsychology: a new way of thinking about psychology
The following text aims to contribute to the discipline of ethnopsychology and thus to understand the realities of a country like Colombia, which is defined as multiethnic and multicultural. In this sense, a historical journey begins by highlighting the work of Rogelio Díaz Guerrero (1918-2004). The difficulty of approaching a definition and understanding of the object of study is raised; in addition, an attempt is made to differentiate it from other disciplines. This work is based on a descriptive-interpretative qualitative research, with a review of theoretical references. As part of the results, we reflect on some studies from the perspective of ethnopsychology, identifying themes, population and methods used. From the above, it is suggested that this discipline offers a possibility to build and understand knowledge from the particularities of different cultures and the need to expand the methodology and research, additional courses in higher academic centers.
