This text reflects an investigation whose objective was to analyze the meanings given by a teacher to a formative experience based on interaction with hybrid narratives of community and scientific knowledge, with displacement to chemistry classes of the Brazilian Youth and Adult Education. The teacher interacted with texts and activities available on the internet, answered a questionnaire and was interviewed. From the interview, 28 students read and interpreted narratives and carried out research in the community. The Bakhtin’s philosophy of language was mobilized for the analysis. We identified meanings associated with ethnoscience, teaching and educational issues, and conflicting aspects in the teacher’s experience. Among the students we highlight the interest and relevance of otherness and the differentiation, complementarity and interdependence between the languages of hybrid narrative.
