Impact of AI on the Educational Gap in Colombia

This article examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the growing educational gap between public and private institutions in Colombia. The hypothesis suggests that unequal access to technologies such as the internet and technological infrastructure limits public institutions' ability to integrate AI tools, exacerbating educational inequalities. A mixed-method approach was used, combining a literature review and a quantitative analysis of ICFES Saber 11 exam results from 2008 to 2023. The theoretical framework is based on previous studies on AI in education and technological disparities. The findings show that private institutions are better positioned to implement AI due to greater internet access and teacher training, while public institutions face significant barriers.
