Contextualization: In Nariño, guinea pig raising is important for the economy and food security of farming families, and given that the feeding of this species represents 60-70% of production costs, it is essential to seek alternatives to improve productivity.

Knowledge gap: The effect of using chilacuán (Vasconcellea pubescens) seed cake as a raw material for guinea pig feed and its effect on the animal's productive parameters is unknown.

Objective: To assess the effect of incorporating chilacuán (Vasconcellea pubescens) seed cake as a supplement in the diet of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) and its influence on productive indices.

Methodology: Forty-eight weaned male guinea pigs were used. The animals were fed a diet of forage and supplement, the latter in the form of meal, with different proportions of chilacuán cake inclusion in relation to soybean cake, which established the following treatments: T0 (forage mixture + Supplement 1), T1 (forage mixture + Supplement 2) and T2 (forage mixture + Supplement 3). The nutritional content of forage and supplements was evaluated, as well as the presence of metabolites in chilacuán seed cake. The production indices evaluated were: feed dry matter intake (CAB), forage (CF) and total (CT), daily weight gain (DWG), feed conversion (FC) and carcass yield (CR). Differences were evaluated by analysis of variance and Duncan's test (p<0.05).

Results and conclusions: The chilacuán seed cake showed values of 32.5%, 36.5% and 22.2% of protein, fiber and ethereal extract, respectively, and the presence of saponins and phenolic compounds. Regarding productive indices, no significant differences were found for CF, CT, GDP and CA; in terms of CAB, T2 presented lower intake and in RC, T2 had a higher yield (66.12%), suggesting that the inclusion of the cake improved carcass yield.
