Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions to include third-party material within their articles. This requirement applies to various formats, including but not limited to text excerpts, illustrations, photographs, tables, data sets, audio, video, film stills, screenshots or musical notation. Generally, the use of brief excerpts or specific materials is permitted without formal permission.
However, if the material you wish to include does not fall under these limited exceptions, you must obtain written authorization from the copyright holder. All such permissions must be secured prior to manuscript submission, and proper attribution must be provided within the text.
COPYRIGHT
By submitting to Publicaciones e Investigación, the AUTHOR certifies that the manuscript is an original work, created solely by the author(s), and does not infringe upon or misappropriate any third-party copyrights. Furthermore, the author declares that this work is unpublished and is not currently under consideration, nor has it been accepted for publication, by any other journal or medium.
In the event of any third-party claim or legal action regarding the copyright of the submitted work, including allegations of plagiarism or intellectual property disputes, the AUTHOR assumes full and sole responsibility. The author agrees to defend the rights assigned herein and respond to any complaints that may arise.
For all legal intents and purposes, UNAD and the editorial board of Publicaciones e Investigación act as third parties in good faith, relying upon the author's declarations of originality and ownership.
The reproduction of this work, in whole or in part, is permitted for non-commercial purposes, provided that the source is clearly acknowledged. All citations must appear in bibliographies, captions, footnotes, or reference lists as shown in the link, http://hemeroteca.unad.edu.co/index.php/publicaciones-e-investigacion
Authors’ rights and publication standards for Publicaciones e Investigación are governed by the Intellectual Property Statute of the National Open and Distance University (UNAD). These regulations are established under Chapter Three of Agreement No. 006 (August 26, 2008). The full text of this agreement is available for review here:
To ensure the highest standards of academic integrity, the editorial team of Publicaciones e Investigación verifies the originality of all submitted manuscripts. This process screens for potential plagiarism, self-plagiarism, improper citation, and unauthorized similarity using the Turnitin web service (www.turnitin.com). Turnitin performs a comparative analysis against an extensive database of web content, academic journals, and specialized information repositories. If the report identifies minor citation errors or low-level similarity that can be remedied, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for necessary adjustments before proceeding with the peer-review process. In cases of substantial similarity or unattributed content, the manuscript will be automatically rejected. This decision is final and may be issued prior to, or in the absence of, a formal peer-review report.
The journal Publicaciones e Investigación ensures the long-term accessibility and security of its scholarly content through a multi-layered digital preservation strategy. All archives are hosted on the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD) digital library servers via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. To guarantee content permanence regardless of hosting status, the journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PLN). This tool leverages the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) private network to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries. This decentralized approach ensures that even in the event of a local server failure, the journal's history remains intact and accessible to the global research community.

The journal Publicaciones e Investigación accepts submissions for three distinct article categories, defined as follows:
Review Articles
These articles provide a comprehensive synthesis and critical evaluation of existing scientific literature on a specific topic. They aim to consolidate current knowledge, identify research gaps, and offer an up-to-date perspective on the field.
Reflection Articles
These articles present a critical analysis or a specialized viewpoint grounded in the results of previous research. Unlike a pure review, a reflection article focuses on providing an analytical interpretation or a theoretical advancement based on existing scientific evidence.
Scientific and Technological Research Articles
These are original reports detailing the findings of completed research processes. They provide new data and insights and are traditionally structured into five key sections: Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions.
Publicaciones e Investigación is a fully Open Access journal. We operate on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a more robust global exchange of knowledge. All content is immediately accessible upon publication, with no subscription fees or "paywalls." All articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This license allows students, faculty, and researchers to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format. Remix, transform, and build upon the material. The permissions above are granted provided that the following terms are met:
Attribution: You must provide appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the journal, provide a link to the license, and indicate if any changes were made. This must be done in a reasonable manner that does not suggest endorsement by the journal or the National Open and Distance University (UNAD).
Non-Commercial: You may not use the material, or any derivative works, for commercial purposes.

La Publicaciones e Investigación adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding appeals of editorial decisions and complaints concerning the management of the peer-review process. We are committed to a transparent and fair evaluation of every manuscript.
To initiate a formal appeal or complaint, the AUTHOR must submit a detailed letter to publicaciones.investigacion@unad.edu.co. To ensure timely processing, please follow these requirements:.
Subject Line: Use "Appeal of Editorial Process" or "Appeal of Peer Review," as applicable.
Evidence: Provide clear justification and all supporting documentation or evidence necessary to evaluate the request.
Scope: Appeals should focus on specific technical or procedural errors and not merely on a general disagreement with the editorial judgment.
It is important to distinguish between a formal appeal and the standard revision process:
Standard Revision: Occurs when an article is "Accepted with Modifications." This involves submitting revised texts and justifications based on reviewer feedback.
Formal Appeal: A separate process used only when an author believes a decision was reached through a breach of policy or a significant misunderstanding of the scientific content.
For more information on the stages of our workflow, please consult the Guidelines for Authors and the Evaluation Process sections on our platform.
Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions Policy
Publicaciones e Investigación is committed to the permanence of the scholarly record. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to amend an article after its final publication. Any such changes are subject to careful consideration by the Editorial Board and are processed in strict accordance with the standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
To maintain transparency, the original article will not be simply replaced or deleted. Instead, any subsequent changes will be accompanied by a formal notice that is permanently linked to the original publication. Depending on the nature of the issue, the journal may issue one of the following:
Correction: Used to rectify a specific error (e.g., author names, data errors, or typographical mistakes) that does not invalidate the study's conclusions.
Expression of Concern: Issued if there is an ongoing investigation into potential research misconduct or if findings are considered unreliable but not yet proven.
Retraction: Issued when the findings are significantly undermined by error or misconduct, rendering the conclusions invalid.
Withdrawal: Reserved for extreme cases (such as legal infringements or serious privacy violations) where the content must be removed from the public record.
All authors submitting a manuscript to Journal Publicaciones e Investigación are required to disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could be perceived as a conflict of interest. Transparency is essential to maintain the objectivity and integrity of the editorial and peer-review process.
A conflict of interest (also known as a competing interest) exists when an author or their employer, sponsor, or immediate personal network has a relationship that might inappropriately influence the research, the data analysis, or the interpretation of results. These interests include but are not limited to:
Financial and Commercial: Receipt of funding, grants, honoraria, or stock ownership from organizations with a vested interest in the research outcomes.
Professional and Legal: Employment, consultancy roles, or legal affiliations with competing entities.
Personal: Relationships with family members or colleagues that could bias the evaluation of the work.
Competing interests may be financial or non-financial in nature. Authors must disclose any association that a reasonable reader or editor might perceive as a potential bias. Detailed instructions for providing this disclosure can be found in our Manuscript Submission Guidelines.
All research published in Revista Publicaciones e Investigación must be conducted according to the highest ethical standards and in full compliance with local and international guidelines. The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy for unethical research practices.
For studies involving human subjects, whether through clinical trials, data collection, surveys, or interviews; authors must ensure the following:
Institutional Approval: The study must have been reviewed and approved by an independent Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Informed Consent: Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants (or their legal guardians) prior to the start of the research.
Privacy and Confidentiality: Researchers must guarantee the anonymity and protection of participants' personal data in accordance with data protection laws.
To ensure transparency, manuscripts reporting on human research must include an "Ethical Considerations" statement. This statement should be specified:
The name of the approving Ethics Committee or IRB.
The reference or protocol number of the approval.
Conformation that informed consent was obtained.
If the research was exempt from ethical review (e.g., use of public domain data), the authors must clearly state the reason for this exemption in the manuscript.
Misconduct
In accordance with its core ethical principles, the journal Publicaciones e Investigación is committed to identifying, monitoring, and addressing all forms of research and publication misconduct. The journal follows the protocols established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to investigate allegations and protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:
- Fabrication or Falsification: Inventing data or results, or manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes.
- Image Manipulation: Altering images to obscure, move, or introduce objects that change scientific interpretation.
- Plagiarism: The appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit.
- Text Recycling / Self-Plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work without proper citation.
- Copyright Violations: Using third-party materials without legal authorization.
- Unethical Research: Conducting studies without proper institutional approvals or informed consent.
- Ethical Dumping: Exporting research to countries with different/lower ethical standards to avoid strict regulations in the country of origin.
- Citation Manipulation: Excessive or inappropriate self-citation or "citation rings" designed to artificially inflate metrics.
- Misrepresentation: Falsifying institutional affiliations or providing false information about author identities.
- Peer Review Interference: Attempting to influence the review process or providing fake reviewer contact information.
- Duplicate Submission: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest: Failing to report financial or personal ties that could bias the research.
If misconduct is suspected, the Editorial Board will initiate an investigation. Actions may include the suspension of the review process, the notification of the author’s institution, and if already published, the issuance of a formal correction or retraction.
Authors submitting to journal Publicaciones e Investigación must transparently disclose the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscript. This disclosure should be included in a dedicated section or within the acknowledgments, specifying the tool used and the nature of its application (e.g., data analysis, language editing, or literature synthesis).
While AI tools may be used to enhance the research process, they do not meet the criteria for authorship.
Human Oversight: Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the final work. They must manually review, verify, and correct any AI-generated content to ensure it is free from hallucinations, technical errors, or bias.
Prohibited Uses: AI must not be used to create misleading content, manipulate research data, or generate "synthetic" results that lack an empirical basis.
The use of AI must respect intellectual property rights and academic integrity. Authors must ensure that AI-generated text does not infringe on third-party copyrights or result in plagiarism. Any failure to disclose the use of GenAI may be considered a breach of publication ethics and may lead to the rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
