Artificial intelligence (AI) has traversed through multiple paradigms that have drastically changed human understanding of these technologies. Originally based on symbolic rules, AI has migrated towards connectionist approaches, with a current surge in neural networks and deep learning. This paper analyzes this epistemological transition, examining contemporary ethical and conceptual debates surrounding machine capabilities. It is concluded that we are in a historical singularity, with challenges still open to understanding the foundations of the new AI.
