Procedures carried out in beauty parlors in Colombia, are ruled by the government through the Secretarie of Health, which control and verify the stated requirements in the Biosafety Manual for this kind of service, in order to make it hygienic and keep communities from allergies and apidemies due to infectious agents. This study was held in thirteen beauty parlors in a town in Cundinamarca, where the government had offered some training. The search was focused on the assessment of the bacteria found in the tools which were ready to be used.

Four samples were taken from four different tools in each beauty parlor. They were taken by using the “sterile hisopo” technique, They were set in liquid. Growth of bacteria was verified macro and microscopically. Isolation was made in selective and differential media, and biochemical identification was done, which confirmed the presence of bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter freundi, Klebsiella oxytoca and Pseudomonas aeruginosa among other opportunistic microorganisms which may cause infections, some fecal contamination indicators were all found of these and show deficiencies in the asepsis and hygiene process when carrying out the service.
