This article presents the results of the project "In the footsteps of our ancestors: a look at the past from the classroom", developed at the Nuestra Señora de Morcá Educational Institution in Sogamoso, Boyacá. The main objective was to strengthen the cultural identity of fifth-grade students through Muisca pottery. Using a qualitative and ethnographic approach, testimonies from local artisans were collected, and a didactic sequence was designed. The results show that this experience enhanced students' sense of belonging and responsibility toward cultural traditions. However, certain limitations were identified, such as the lack of community participation and the need to adopt more practical pedagogical methods. The study highlights how education can serve as a tool for revitalizing cultural heritage, promoting sustainable development, and fostering community rootedness.
