Rural and Sustainable Development: Realities and Challenges of Education in Colombia
Within the framework of the project titled: Policies and practices of quality in distance and virtual higher education of research training and scientific production with digital technology in Latin America with agreement No. P-01-22 RUMBO - UNAD and the master's thesis "Analysis of inclusive education as a strategy for training in global citizenship and territorial development", this article seeks to highlight the importance of sustainable development and the impact it has on rural development and training processes. Sustainable development is gaining importance in our society since the impact of human beings on the environment is evident, as well as the industrialization processes that increase disproportionately due to the strong need for the acquisition of goods and services of short use (Fonseca, 2019). This topic generates great interest in governmental entities due to the processes of reflection and research that allow discussion and discernment on the sustainability of resources for future generations. Huanca-Arohuanca et al. (2019) consider that the objective is to lessen the effects of a consumerist culture that strongly affects ecosystems and the impact of modernization in rural spaces. At this point, education becomes important, it has the responsibility to raise awareness and reflection, to implement training processes that allow training the individual under these new realities, and to make a critical reading of these events to advance in alternatives for the solution to these problems.
