Focus and Scope

The Arista Jurídico-Política Journal, a formative research publication of the Escuela de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas (ECJP) of the National Open and Distance University (UNAD), serves as a means of social appropriation of knowledge for the dissemination of advances and findings derived from basic and applied research conducted within the institution and in collaboration with other institutions or social actors, through the integration of education and research processes.

Likewise, the journal constitutes a space for debate and reflection on relevant issues related to the fields of law, politics, and international relations from a critical, interdisciplinary, and pluralistic perspective.

The journal is aligned with the curricular framework proposed by the Escuela de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas (ECJP) and the Sistema de Servicio Social Unadista (SISSU) through various courses and research seedbeds, with the purpose of strengthening academic and university life and promoting the dialogue of knowledge for the visibility of territorial initiatives.

Its aim is to foster academic dialogue among peers through the publication of review articles, reflection papers, research results, reviews, interviews, chronicles, and other forms of expression (such as photography, comics, and narrative chronicles) developed by students and faculty members who are beginning their research activities within the School.

The journal welcomes broad participation from civil society organizations, national and territorial entities, as well as students from other universities involved in research processes.

Articles and other types of documents published in this journal shall remain valid, accurate, and unaltered to the greatest extent possible. However, exceptional circumstances may arise in which a published article must subsequently be corrected, retracted, or even removed. Such actions shall be undertaken following careful consideration by the journal’s editorial team, with the support of the UNAD Publishing House staff, in order to ensure that they are carried out with the highest guarantees and in accordance with the guidelines recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

  • If the research constitutes plagiarism.

  • When the article or other type of document is subject to a court order.
  • When the article or other type of document, if no action is taken, could pose a serious risk to public health.

In the event that an article or other type of document is removed, its metadata (authors and title) shall be retained, and the text shall be replaced with a document stating that the article has been removed for legal reasons.

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

The Arista Jurídico-Política Journal, in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, authorship responsibility, research transparency, and good editorial practices, establishes the following policy regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation, evaluation, and editorial management of manuscripts submitted for consideration.

The journal acknowledges that the development of Artificial Intelligence-based tools has created new possibilities for technical support in different academic processes; however, their use must be carried out in strict adherence to the principles of research ethics and the responsibilities inherent to scientific authorship.

  1. Use of AI tools by authors

The Arista Jurídico-Política Journal does not permit the use of Artificial Intelligence tools for the total or partial generation of the substantial academic content of manuscripts submitted for evaluation. This includes, among other aspects, the drafting of article sections, the development of analyses, interpretations, results, discussions, or conclusions.

The use of Artificial Intelligence tools is restricted exclusively to limited technical support functions, such as spelling correction, grammatical review, style enhancement, or assistance in language translation processes.

If such tools are used for these purposes, authors must explicitly declare their use within the manuscript.

In all cases, authors shall remain solely responsible for the content of the article, its originality, the accuracy of the information presented, and compliance with research ethics principles.

Artificial Intelligence tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts, nor may they assume responsibilities associated with academic authorship.

  1. Use of AI tools in the peer review process

In order to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of the editorial process, reviewers must not introduce, upload, or share, either totally or partially, manuscripts submitted for evaluation into Artificial Intelligence platforms or tools that may compromise the confidentiality of the peer review process.

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the reviewed materials and refrain from using external tools that involve the treatment, storage, or processing of information related to the evaluated manuscripts.

  1. Use of AI tools by the editorial team

The editorial team of the Arista Jurídico-Política Journal may use Artificial Intelligence tools solely as technical support for auxiliary editorial tasks, such as preliminary style review, support in editing processes, or basic verification of textual consistency.

Under no circumstances shall these tools replace academic analysis, editorial judgment, or decision-making by the journal’s editorial team.

  1. Academic intermití and ethical compliance

Any improper use of Artificial Intelligence tools involving the undisclosed generation of academic content, plagiarism, fabrication or manipulation of information, generation of nonexistent references, or any practice that compromises academic integrity shall be considered an ethical misconduct.

In such cases, the journal may proceed with the immediate rejection of the manuscript or apply the corresponding measures in accordance with its editorial policies, current institutional guidelines, and international standards on publication ethics.
