Following the attacks and the subsequent escalation of the war in the Gaza Strip since October seventh 2023, numerous cultural infrastructures and heritage elements have been destroyed or placed at risk. Against this scenario, this qualitative research, based on a bibliographic and documentary review, analyses the role played by Unesco in protecting Palestinian heritage since the beginning of this escalation. To this end, two research questions are posed, aimed at establishing whether Unesco’s role in Palestine after October seventh, 2023, has been more limited than in other war scenarios, and at analysing how internal dynamics among Member States influence its actions in relation to the Palestinian case.
