This article examines how Western media have constructed and disseminated a stereotyped and dehumanizing image of Arab and Muslim peoples, contributing to the symbolic legitimation of genocide in Palestine. Drawing on an interdisciplinary approach that articulates postcolonial studies, critical media theory, and discourse analysis, the article analyzes the dominant narrative that presents the “West” as bearer of universal values—rationality, modernity, and humanity—while situating the “East” within a framework of irrationality, backwardness, and violence. This dichotomy is not merely descriptive but functions as an ideological apparatus that naturalizes structural and direct violence against Arab and Muslim populations by inscribing them within an imaginary of threat and barbarity. The analysis examines recent media coverage of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, identifying framing strategies, lexical selection, and asymmetries in victim representation that render occupation and colonialism invisible, shifting focus toward narratives of Israeli security and self-defense. It is argued that these representations consolidate a vision of the Global South subordinated to hegemonic interpretive frameworks, thereby reinforcing global relations of power and inequality. Finally, the article posits the necessity of constructing informative narratives that restore the humanity, historicity, and agency of Arab and Muslim peoples, enabling an understanding of the Palestinian genocide not as an isolated conflict but as an expression of an international order marked by colonialism, racism, and impunity.
