Health promotion in the school setting fosters human development, improves health, and strengthens educational processes. However, evidence from Latin America shows a persistent gap between theory and practice, as interventions continue to focus predominantly on biomedical and preventive approaches. Therefore, the PROINAPSA Institute of the Industrial University of Santander, with extensive experience in school health promotion, set out to identify good health-promotion practices and good intersectoral working practices for school health promotion, and to strengthen the available evidence on their effectiveness. Through narrative and systematic reviews, gray literature reviews, analysis of significant experiences, and expert consensus involving 15 countries belonging to the Latin American Network of Health-Promoting Schools (RLEPS), ten (10) criteria for good school health-promotion practices and eleven (11) good intersectoral working practices for school health promotion were identified. This work has helped promote the development of experiences, strengthen research in this field, and build the capacities of the RLEPS.
