The Participatory Action Research (PAR) project carried out by the HUMANIUNAD student research group in Ricaurte, Cundinamarca, had the overall objective of identifying the geographic barriers that hinder access to health services through the creation of a digital territorial map. The project was carried out through the academic program known as CIPAS Territorial, integrating elements of mixed-methods and exploratory research methodology, using focus groups and collective map-making with local stakeholders and the Epidemiological Surveillance Committee. The territorial mapping revealed that the urban services provided do not align with the needs of rural villages; similarly, the deterioration of access roads and the rural population’s distance from the urban center prevent the provision of adequate, effective, and efficient health care. This situation forces the population of Ricaurte to travel to neighboring municipalities for medical care and administrative procedures. Social mapping is reaffirmed as a tool that enables the community to understand its reality and propose strategies aimed at equity and social justice. As a final reflection, digital humanism gains importance by leveraging technology to humanize decision-making in healthcare.
