The purpose of this paper is to expose the design of an early warning system that allows real-time monitoring of the flow of the Chorrera River in the city of Junín Cundinamarca, thus mitigating the impact of disasters caused by flooding and flooding of tributaries.

This project is a response to the environmental concerns that have an impact on the social and economic aspects of the residents of the Chorrera river basin, since the river and the small basins grow unexpectedly during the rainy season, sometimes producing landslides, thus generating serious risk to the lives of the inhabitants and generating clogging of roads, preventing the exit of products and the entry of food.

It seeks to generate an alternative to the measurement of the flow of the Chorrera River through hardware and software tools that transmit information wirelessly to receivers located directly in the communities that need this alert and monitoring service, which will be able to notify real time about a sudden increasing probability. Later, community leaders with this alert on their mobile phones via SMS and call will be able to alert the other members of the community and take the corresponding evacuation actions.
