One of the organization’s major problems is related with programming of the deliveries to their customers due to the high number of restrictions that must be considered when scheduling delivery routes. To study this phenomenon, the vehicle route problem (VRP) emerged, which has captured the interest of the scientific community associated with logistics management and route assignment given its adaptability to various case studies. Since its conception, the VRP has evolved based on the needs of various sectors and the dynamics of organizations, resulting in different variants, methodologies for its application and solution methods. The objective of this research is to highlight the most frequently used variants and methodologies and the differences between each of them.
