The Use Of Recycled Plastic For The Development Of Nonstructural Building Materials
Currently Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues. Growing concerns about use, production and disposal of plastics, several strategies have been implemented to reduce its impact; Colombia recently approved banning of single-use plastics use, placing Colombia among the countries with the most advanced regulations protecting the environment. In Parallel to the impact produced by plastics uses, is the construction industry, which is responsible for about 39% of CO2 emissions. One of the largest contributions to these emissions is related to the production of cement. Even though cement is a material with high rates of contamination, it is the most used material for construction. Due to this, different investigations have been carried out to obtain construction materials with materials that can replace cement. In the search for the reduction of the impact generated by plastics and the impact mitigation caused by the production of cement, different works have been carried out to develop construction materials based on recycled plastics. The present work shows a review of the literature on the use of plastic as a replacement for cement for the development of non-structural construction materials.
