This paper presents an analysis of the status of 5G technology deployment in the Americas. The research is carried out using a survey of information on the current regulations on mobile technologies and then an overview of the most relevant aspects in each study area. The middle bands (2.5-3.7 GHz) stand out as the main bands for 5G deployments in North America with developments in Canada and the United States, Trinidad and Tobago is the only country in the Caribbean area that has a 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) solution in the 2.5 GHz spectrum band, while in South America the 5G launches of Uruguay, Suriname and Brazil prevail. In terms of 5G pilot tests, those carried out by Costa Rica and Honduras stand out, Mexico with the 3. 5 GHz and in the Caribbean Antigua and Barbuda and Dominican Republic have developed advances in this sense, in South America the 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz spectrum bands behave as the potential ones for 5G development, used in a total of 26 tests distributed in 9 countries, except Guyana, Paraguay, Venezuela and French Guyana This research aims to give a context of the current state of mobile technology in these areas and to obtain an overview of the actions carried out in America regarding the implementation of 5G technology.
