Review of yellow corn transportation alternatives to the Avidesa Macpollo S.A plant, Barranquilla-Girón. Colombia.
Formulating a logistic model of transport is of vital importance for companies in order to guarantee the supply of raw materials and the distribution of their products, generating value and making their productive processes more competitive. Taking into account this principle, the objective of this research work was to propose the cost-efficient viability of road transport vs. the Multimodal River-Road, for yellow corn, from Barranquilla, to the plant located in Giron Santander, of the COMPANY AVIDESA MACPOLLO S.A., using existing technology (transport equipment, terminals, information software), procedures and mathematical calculations for its formulation. The authors recognize the current process of land transport of yellow corn, and then, identify the particularities of cost-operative multimodal river transport that can be developed through the Magdalena River, in order to compare them and reach conclusions on what was the best cost-effective alternative for the company to contribute to business development, presenting application opportunities to AVIDESA MAC POLLO S.A., the poultry sector and possibilities for future research.
