Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are defined for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as a set of lesions and symptoms that affect the bone and muscle systems that involve their associated structures, i.e., joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves and circulatory system. According to the WHO for the year 2017 they were the second cause of disability in the world (they caused 16% of the years lived with disability), being lumbar pain the most common reason for disability (WHO, 2018). Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) represent a complex health problem in the working population, constituting the first cause of morbidity and disability reported in both developed and developing countries. Most musculoskeletal diseases produce a number of symptoms such as local pain, limitation of joint movement and consequent restriction of body movement leading to a decrease in normal performance during work or in certain tasks of daily life (ILO, 2011).
