Bovina colombiana animal welfare in the colombian bovine meat chain
Contextualization: According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), animal welfare is a multifactorial science, which includes scientific, cultural, ethical, economic and political aspects. Since 1995, the OIE has supported member countries in the adoption of guidelines for the application of the BA, so that Latin American countries have developed their own laws and guidelines in order to integrate the concepts of both international studies and those carried out in conditions specific to each territory. Research gap: It is necessary to know the impact of animal welfare in the bovine meat chain in Colombia, to investigate what research in the area has achieved in our country. Purpose of the study: The following document aims to contextualize the links of the bovine meat chain in Colombia, where a discussion will be held on the most important aspects in each of the stages that comprise them, in this way it seeks to visualize what research has achieved in the field of animal welfare, in order to show the importance of implementing this concept. Methodology: Exploration of secondary sources of information, with reference to relevant updates in the area of animal welfare and its impact on the bovine meat chain in Colombia. Results and conclusions: scientific research in the area has been giving information about the problems that currently arise, along with clear solutions to them, in order to achieve optimal production. Therefore, it is essential to continue investigating the impact of applications of good animal welfare practices in the logistics chain.
