Sustainable Tourism: An Integral Approach to Environmental Preservation and Community Development
Sustainable tourism has emerged as a key strategy to balance economic development with environmental preservation and the well-being of local communities. This study focuses on the municipality of La Plata, Huila, exploring the perceptions of the local community regarding sustainable tourism and its viability as a driver of regional development. Through a survey conducted with 150 residents, relevant data were collected to assess the potential for implementing sustainable practices in the region. The results highlight the importance of a collaborative approach that involves all stakeholders in the tourism sector, including the government, businesses, and the local community, in order to create a more equitable and responsible development model. The research emphasizes that achieving sustainable tourism in La Plata requires strengthening local infrastructure and promoting community education and participation.
