THE ROLE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF FINANCIAL ACCESS IN COLOMBIA
Technological developments have affected the financial industry in recent years, introducing new business models such as fintech, blockchain and artificial intelligence, thus increasing the range of financial products with high disruptive potential. In this sense, new technologies in the financial sector play an important role in financial inclusion since they allow more Colombians to access innovative services and promote economic growth. In this sense, this study documents the incidence between the adoption of new technologies in the context of emerging Latin American markets and the process of financial inclusion, highlighting aspects such as trends, expectations, attractiveness for investors, among the main aspects. In this regard, specialized international and national literature was analyzed, historical data from the World Bank was used and the econometric analysis was developed through linear regression models. The results reveal that ICTs are essential to achieve a knowledge-based society that is at the forefront of new technologies in order to achieve a more developed country with a more robust economy. In this regard, it was found that the number of Fintech companies has increased financial inclusion in the country and is significant at 1%.
