Tourism is considered a social, cultural, and economic phenomenon consisting of going and returning from a place voluntarily due to personal, business, or professional reasons to a place of residence.

This phenomenon has been gaining a leading role within the economy of the countries in recent years, therefore, in this document, a comparative review of the impact on the economy of Colombia and Mexico is carried out, through indicators such as GDP, the number of Jobs generated and their percentage within the total number of people employed.

The review is realized through a documentary-type study, carrying out a systematic review from a quantitative approach of the different sources of scientific articles housed in databases and documents issued by international organizations, considered authorities about tourism and the economy.

Among the results obtained by the study is that by 2021 for every Mexican who visited Colombia, 5 Colombians visited Mexico. By 2022, tourism represented 8,3% of the Mexican GDP and 4,5% of the Colombian GDP.

The analysis of this study allows estimating projections of tourism growth in Colombia and Mexico.
