With the development of the research project, it is sought to have a perspective of the current view of formality in commercial establishments in the región of Valle de Tenza, in the department of Boyacá. To achieve this objective, a descriptive, non-experimental, mixed investigation is carried out through the characterization of a sample of commercial establishments in 3 representative municipalities of the region, such as: Almeida, Guateque and Garagoa. Once the population of commercial establishments and types of business have been defined in each municipality, a sample is made consisting of 26 establishments in the municipality of Almeida, 50 in Guateque and 87 Garagoa. As an instrument for collecting information, a survey is applied to determinate and analyze the conditions in which the establishments are located and to identify weaknesses or strengths to determine potentialities or opportunities for growth.
