Biocultural practices and agroecological knowledge in peasant family agricultural systems in the buffer zone of the Fauna and Flora Sanctuary – Iguaque
The purpose of the research was to value the knowledge and biocultural practices carried out by peasant communities, in the family agricultural systems of the buffer zone of the Iguaque Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, allowing the recognition of the intrinsic value of agrobiodiversity, of ecosystems . cultivated, where food security, social inclusion and sustainable local development are promoted. The composition, richness, use and importance of agrobiodiversity, both wild and cultivated, in three municipalities (Arcabuco, Chíquiza, Villa de Leyva) was analyzed through tours, botanical work and semi structured interviews with farmers. A total of 205 species of fauna, flora and fungi were recorded with different categories of use: medicinal, food, artisanal, wood energy, ethnoveterinary, ornamental and utensil manufacturing. The agrobiodiversity of these agricultural spaces plays an important function in satisfying both the basic needs of the community and cultural and symbolic elements in the area.
