Agroecological production of short-cycle crops under greenhouse cover in Valle del Cauca

 Contextualization: In the municipalities of Florida, Tuluá and Guadalajara de Buga, department of Valle del Cauca - Colombia, agroecological practices of short-cycle crops under greenhouse cover are being implemented as an alternative adaptation to climate change for food security and sovereignty of rural communities accompanied by the Instituto Mayor Campesino-IMCA.

Knowledge gap: Given the above, the question arises as to whether the agroecology proposal is effective in responding to one of the social purposes of IMCA's work related to food security and sovereignty.

Purpose: Given the importance of having evaluation indicators, a socioeconomic assessment of 12 roofs in production was carried out during the case study, in order to analyze the proposal for agroecological production of short-cycle crops under greenhouse cover, considering its technical, productive, economic and social dimensions.

Methodology: Quantitative field research was proposed to assess technical, economic and productive aspects, complemented with a qualitative evaluation for social aspects.

Results and conclusions: It was found that the agroecological production of short-cycle crops under greenhouse cover contributes to the food security and sovereignty of rural families.
